Photo Classes

I have been taking some classes to learn how to improve my photographic capability. Is it working? Who knows, but I enjoy the classes and the instructor is great.
This old Rolls Royce was at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens when we were there to photo in the gardens. To nice to miss taking a picture of.

Here are a few of the homework assignments that we have had over the past 3 weeks.

Week 1, use pre-set modes only with no green (automatic)

Week 2, use of histogram and P (programmed Auto) mode, change ISO

Desoto Caverns Feb 2010 (62 photos), by Harold Deason

I'd like to share my Snapfish photos with you. Once you have checked out my photos you can order prints and upload your own photos to share.

On Saturday Jim Price and myself carried two friends from Kenya to Desoto Caverns to let them see the cave. The caverns are well presented and we all enjoyed the trip into the caverns. It was the first time in a cave for Simmon but he really enjoyed the natural beauty of the caverns and could hardly believe that it was real. The many colors of the formations and the lighting that is setup really makes for a very attractive presentation.

Gardening for Birds

Herb Lewis from Huntsville, AL presented a wonderful program on backyard birding to the Jefferson County Master Gardeners at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens today. The public was invited and we had 147 people attend the presentation. Herb's extensive knowledge of birds, habitat, feeding and bird behaviors as captured through the lens of his camera really added to the presentation.

Herb is also a Master Gardener in the Huntsville, AL area and will be one of the presenters at the Alabama Master Gardener Convention in Montgomery, AL in March. If you missed this presentation catch a great presentation in Montgomery.

Thanks to Herb and his wife Terry for sharing their time and wonderful experiences with us.
